So now I’m left with the challenge of removing the handlebars. Usually a simple task with newer bikes, but not so much with 30 year old bikes. The aluminum stem has welded it’s self to the fork. After seeking a ton of advice it’s either saw off the stem, and install a new one, or spray that ish with PB Blaster and tap on it for a week with a mallet.
Going the PB Blaster route first. Cross your fingers for me.

I swear they were welded on.
Spent the day taking off the grease, and prepped them to be put back in. Good advice says they’re totally re usable which saves me some skrilla. Just gotta lube them back up and stick them in. New Orleans.
A few companies got back to me about powder coating and it’s much cheaper than I thought so I’m going to wait to put everything back together.
What colour should I get?

It’s a 58cm (wish it was a bit bigger) Peugeot Sprint from around 80-83. I can’t really seem to put an exact date on it because the Sprint is a model native to Canada which means there is almost no info on the internet. Crazy. It took me hours upon hours of  trollin’ forums and blogs and geocities websites to figure that one out.

This is going to be a summer project of mine and of course I’ll detail it all here. Plans include new wheels/tires, single speed hub, new bottom bracket, handlebars? paint job?

So here it is. Step one the skeleton.
